Colony Medic

The medic treats injuries and illness, from routine bandaging to surgery. Keep the medical guide nearby and check what a patient needs before starting treatment. A crowded waiting room is a reason to stay organised, not to guess.

Set up a clinic

Ask the Governor and Head Architect to arrange a clinic, or commission a carpenter if those roles are vacant. Aim for several patient beds, an operating room, and a stock of trauma and burn kits. Healing herbs can help when supplies are scarce; consult the medical guide for the appropriate treatment.

Agree on any fees before treatment so patients know what to expect.

Prepare for patients

  1. Learn the treatment and surgery steps, or keep the guide open.
  2. Organise supplies so you can find them when several patients arrive.
  3. Keep yourself and the clinic clean. See the hygiene guide.
  4. Ask for help gathering supplies and moving patients when the clinic is busy.

Limited equipment and a sudden queue of wounded colonists are the main practical challenges. Stock the shelves before the emergency; patients rarely make appointments for those.
