Governor

The Governor leads the colony, coordinates public projects and works with merchants to keep supplies moving. Give colonists clear priorities and guards clear laws. A notice board cannot run the colony for you, but it saves repeating the same speech twelve times.

Steps

  1. Write the colony's laws on paper and put them on the notice board.
  2. Announce where to read them and keep spare copies.
  3. Make sure guards understand the written laws.
  4. Discuss building plans with the Head Architect. A store and medical clinic are useful early projects.
  5. Coordinate imports, exports and spending with the merchants.

Some laws you can make

Colony laws are part of roleplay and must follow the server rules. Make them clear enough for both colonists and guards to understand. Possible subjects include building permits, firearm permits, theft, property access and self-defence.

Explain how permits are issued and how disputes are handled. Avoid vague laws that leave everyone guessing what is allowed. Work with security to resolve problems rather than treating every disagreement as a crisis.

Exporting and Importing

Importing

Use the supply orders book to pay for and order supplies. See the Merchant guide for the ordering steps, delivery and remaining coins.

Exporting

Use the export book to sell eligible goods. See the Merchant guide for selling stacks and taxes. Plan purchases around the colony's needs and leave enough money for the next order.
